We recently carried out an assessment tools verification and validation exercise, this initiative brought together a team of experienced assessment validators, all dedicated to ensuring that the upcoming internal assessments are conducted with the highest standards of reliability, fairness, and accuracy.
The activity was preceded by the development of assessment tools and uploading them to the internal online assessment repository where the digital tools were safely stored for future reference.
The verification and validation process was designed to:
– Confirm that assessment tools align with curriculum requirements.
– Ensure clarity, fairness, and consistency in the evaluation of learners.
– Strengthen confidence in the internal assessment process by eliminating ambiguities.
The validators, drawn from diverse technical and vocational fields, applied their expertise to:
– Review assessment instruments for accuracy and relevance.
– Validate that tasks reflect real-world skills and competencies.
– Provide constructive feedback to refine tools before implementation.
Their collective experience ensured that the tools not only measure knowledge but also practical skills, preparing learners for industry expectations.
This exercise was a crucial step in readiness for internal assessments. By validating the tools beforehand, Siaya National Polytechnic demonstrated its commitment to:
– Upholding quality assurance in training and evaluation.
– Promoting transparency and credibility in student assessment.
– Aligning institutional practices with national standards for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The successful completion of this exercise sets a strong foundation for the upcoming internal assessments. It reflects the institution’s dedication to continuous improvement and its role as a leader in advancing competency-based education in Kenya.
