Message from the Sports Coordinator

These words by Shaquille O’Neal -One of the greatest NBA players of all time that “Excellence is not a singular act but a habit. You are what you do repeatedly.” correctly summarize the sports story of Siaya Institute of Technology. Over the years, despite modest facilities, the institution has positioned itself to be a regional and national success champion.

The sports department plays a critical role in providing networks, nurturing talent, encouraging fitness and providing an invaluable spring board for students to compete in a variety of sporting activities.

Our history of sports is littered with glistering achievements notably:

  • Current KETTISO National Netball champions (five years in a row)
  • National shot-put record holders. (Monica O. Akinyi)

With able and dedicated coaches and field captains, the future is definitely very bright. The department aims to enroll in regional competitive leagues and to invest in international networks, exchanges and bench marks. We hope to produce the cream of champions in sports in Kenya. The sky shall surely not be our limit. LONG LIVE SPORTS.

Our Vision

  • To build a dynamic and inclusive Sports and Recreation Department that nurtures talent at all levels within the institution, fostering a culture where every student is encouraged to participate, grow, and excel. The department envisions creating structured training programs, accessible facilities, and supportive mentorship that promote teamwork, discipline, and resilience, while identifying and developing athletes to compete successfully at regional and national levels. The department also aspires to promote holistic well-being by integrating sports and recreation into everyday student life, recognizing their role in enhancing physical health, mental wellness, and social cohesion. Through partnerships, continuous innovation, and a commitment to excellence, the department aims to inspire lifelong engagement in physical activity and position the institution as a center of sporting excellence and community impact.
