The Siaya National Polytechnic (TSNP) recently played host to the Management team of the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Siaya Branch, in a courtesy visit aimed at exploring sponsorship opportunities for trainees. The engagement brought together the KCB team, the Chief Principal and the Polytechnic’s Top Management in a fruitful discussion centered on supporting needy and vulnerable trainees to access and complete their technical education.
The meeting provided a platform for both institutions to explore areas of collaboration, with a keen focus on how KCB’s corporate social responsibility initiatives could be extended to benefit trainees at TSNP who face financial barriers to completing their studies. Discussions centered on structured, sustainable support that would not only ease the financial burden on needy trainees but also improve retention and completion rates at the institution.
The meeting culminated in a landmark agreement, with KCB committing to onboard The Siaya National Polytechnic onto its scholarship program. The program is designed to benefit needy trainees by cushioning them against financial challenges and ensuring they are able to complete their studies without interruption. This partnership is expected to open doors for many deserving trainees who would otherwise struggle to finance their technical and vocational education.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chief Principal welcomed the initiative and thanked the KCB Siaya Branch Management for their goodwill and support towards the Polytechnic’s trainees. He noted that such partnerships go a long way in bridging the financial gap for needy students and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to nurturing talent regardless of a trainee’s economic background. He further encouraged more corporate partners to emulate KCB’s example in supporting technical and vocational education, which remains key to Kenya’s socio-economic transformation agenda.
On his part, the KCB Manager affirmed the Bank’s continued commitment to empowering young and vulnerable people in the community, noting that initiatives such as this scholarship program are central to KCB’s broader mission of enabling youth to achieve their dreams. He assured the Polytechnic of KCB’s continued partnership and support in ensuring that no trainee is locked out of an opportunity to complete their studies due to financial constraints.
The onboarding of TSNP onto the KCB scholarship program marks a significant milestone in the institution’s efforts to widen access to technical and vocational education for all, particularly trainees from disadvantaged backgrounds. It also reflects the growing role of corporate partners in supporting national efforts to build a skilled and empowered workforce through TVET institutions.
The Siaya National Polytechnic looks forward to a long and impactful partnership with KCB Siaya Branch as more details of the scholarship program are rolled out, and remains grateful for this vote of confidence in its mission to transform lives through quality technical training.
